Accused Havertown Bank Robber Identified, Mother Not Charged

Glen Mokshefski, 56, of Downingtown, is charged with felony robbery, theft by unlawful taking, and receiving stolen property, police said.

HAVERTOWN, PA — Police in Haverford Township released more details on the bank robbery that occurred Thursday in Havertown.

According to police, Glen Allen Mokshefski, 56, of Downingtown, is charged with felony robbery, theft by unlawful taking, and receiving stolen property in connection with therobbery of the Santander Bank branch at 116 W. Township Line Road Thursday.

Mokshefski’s 89-year-old mother was also taken into custody, but was later released after the investigation revealed that she was not involved in the bank robbery, police said.

The incident began at 11:05 a.m. at the bank when police were notified of a robbery in progress.

Police told Patch Thursday that Mokshefski came into the branch, told the teller he was holding up the bank, and was given a couple hundred dollars in cash.

While handing over cash, the teller activated the alarm, which allowed the security company to see the robbery occurring in real time over cameras and to notify police.

While officers were heading to the branch, bank security told them the suspect was seen getting into a gray sedan with an elderly woman in the passenger seat after leaving the bank.

As police entered the parking lot, the sedan sped off, heading south on West Township Line Road.

The vehicle, a gray Mitsubishi Mirage, was stopped at West Township Line Road and Bryan Street, and its driver, later determined to be Mokshefski, was identified as the bank robber and was taken into custody.

Police told Patch Mokshefski said he came to Delaware County with the intent to steal tools from Lowes, but saw the bank and decided to rob it.

Mokshefski was taken to a hospital after his arrest to be treated for symptoms related to drug abuse, police said.

He is being held on $100,000 bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 3, court records show.

According to court records, Mokshefski has criminal records in Chester County dating back to 1990.

He was recently charged with retail theft, driving under the influence, and drug offenses in Chester County, documents show.
