Amazon Driver Who Shot Man In Delco Road Rage Incident Gets Prison

CLIFTON HEIGHTS, PA — A former Amazon driver who shot a man during a Delaware County road rage incident in early 2022 will spend up to 13 years in prison.

Anthony Jones, 40, of Philadelphia, was hit with a 6-and-a-half to 13 year prison sentence after pleading guilty to aggravated assault in January this year. Jones was initially charged with attempted homicide, firearm violations, and more crimes, but they were dismissed.

The incident occurred at about 12:26 p.m. on Feb. 27, 2022, at Springfield Road and Oak Avenue in Clifton Heights.

Police were called to the area at about 12:26 p.m. and found a 58-year-old man on the sidewalk of Oak Avenue, suffering from a gunshot wound to his stomach.

The victim told police he was shot by an Amazon driver he was involved in a minor crash with, police said.

The victim was taken to University of Penn Hospital, where he was taken into surgery in critical condition, police said.

Police identified Jones as the shooter and issued a warrant for his arrest.

Jones was eventually taken into custody at a relative's home in Philadelphia in March 2022 by the U.S. Marshals Service.
