Amazon Fresh Sign Decision To Be Made Thursday

Amazon's newest store in Havertown is becoming more and more of a reality as the Haverford Zoning Hearing Board plans to make a decision.

Should Amazon open the Amazon Fresh store, which offers in-store grocery shopping and online shopping with delivery options, it will mark the second location in Pennsylvania, as Amazon Fresh has a store in Warrington.

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — The Haverford Township Zoning Hearing Board is once again considering a variance sought by Amazon Retail LLC for a new Amazon Fresh store in Havertown Thursday.

At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, the board will hear from Amazon about the sign that will adorn the new store in the former LA Fitness space at 403 West Chester Pike in the Llanerch Shopping Center.

Thursday's meeting will be held in Room 201A of the Municipal Services Building, 1014 Darby Road in Havertown.

An Amazon representative appeared before the Zoning Hearing Board last week to seek approval on a variance for the store's sign.

Amazon is looking to install a 164.62-square-foot wall sign on the property's facade.

Township code allows for 50 feet maximum.

The previous LA Fitness sign was 180.5 square feet.

Ultimately, the board tabled their decision on the sought variance and asked for more information on how bright the sign would be and how it may impact neighbors in the area.

Amazon still has a pending liquor license at that location, according to the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.
