COLLINGDALE, PA — Five people were displaced after a two-alarm fire heavily damaged a duplex Thursday afternoon in Delaware County.
The fire was reported around 3:15 p.m. on the 1000 block of Broad Street in Collingdale. Within 10 minutes, it was upgraded to a second-alarm incident.
Flames spread to both units, gutting one of them.
As firefighters extinguished remaining hot spots, they brought out a small dog that had been missing, according to the Morton-Rutledge Fire Company. They didn't immediately say whether the dog survived.
The American Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania says its volunteers provided emergency assistance to five people.
