One of the region's key races centers around the 166th District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, which includes Haverford Township and part of Marple.

In the Democratic primary, Haverford Board of Commissioners President Judy Trombetta is seeking to unseat State Rep. Greg Vitali, who has represented the district in the State House for 33 years.

The winner is set for a General Election against Republican Joe Walker, an insurance broker with an uncontested primary.

Here are the latest numbers:

PA-166, Democratic primary

(6.38 percent of precincts reporting)

The Democratic Party has held this seat since 1993, when Vitali was first elected. And in recent years, those General Elections haven't been close — Vitali has secured at least 60 percent of the vote in the general since 2012.

But Trombetta, a fellow Democrat, says it's time for a change. In a questionnaire with Patch, she claimed Vitali has had limited success advancing bills in Harrisburg. Vitali's campaign was sent an identical questionnaire but didn't respond.
