HAVERTOWN, PA — A Havertown man was identified as the suspect who left graphic voicemails containing racist and Islamophobic threats of violence against the Delaware County sheriff, officials said Tuesday.

From July 18-19, a caller left two voicemails with the Sheriff's Office targeting Sheriff Siddiq Kamara. The caller — later identified as Sean Keenan — used the N-word, said "death to Islam," and threatened to hunt Kamara down and feed him his intestines, authorities said.

The Sheriff's Office shared a recording last week to show "the seriousness of what occurred," said Kamara, who is Black and Muslim. (Warning: the recording at this link contains detailed threats of violence with racist and Islamophobic language.)

Kamara didn't recognize the voice in the recordings and doesn't know the reason behind the calls, authorities said.

But after Keenan was arrested Tuesday, Kamara called it "particularly disturbing" that the suspect lives in Delco.

"That should remind all of us that hatred, violent rhetoric, and threats are not problems that exist somewhere else," Kamara said in a statement. "They can exist here, and when they do, we have a responsibility to confront them."

Investigators say they traced the calls back to Keenan's personal and work phones. One of the phone numbers matched a 911 call that Keenan made after a crash in front of his house last February, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Keenan, 40, of Havertown, was charged with:

Keenan was ordered to electronic home monitoring, with bail set at $100,000 unsecured if he violates his release conditions. A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 7.

Online court records didn't list an attorney who could comment on Keenan's behalf.

The Delaware County District Attorney's Office is conducting the ongoing investigation. Anyone with additional information can contact Det. Ed Rosen at 610-891-4161.
