HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — Several Haverford Township roadways will be closed next month when Merion Golf Club hosts the U.S. Amateur Championship.
Road will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m. from Aug. 7-16. Roadways could sometimes reopen earlier in the day, when police and course officials decide it's safe to do so.
Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and public services, such as trash and recycling collection, according to Haverford Township officials.

The U.S. Amateur features 312 of the best men's amateur golfers, running from Aug. 10-16. Several past winners have gone on to win major championships at the professional level, including Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer.
