Delco Pizzeria Closes Permanently After 47 Years Of Family Business

MORTON, PA — After nearly half a century serving Delaware County, a family-owned pizzeria and pub has closed permanently.

Founded in 1979, Pappou's Pizza Pub was a neighborhood spot in Morton known for its wings and ISOPs (inside-out pizzas).

The restaurant's last day was Sunday.

"This marks the end of a chapter for all of us, and while this is not the ending we expected or wanted, it is beyond our control," the business announced days earlier on social media. "We truly hope this is not goodbye forever, but simply the beginning of new doors opening for Pappou and for our loyal staff, who have meant so much to us over the years."

Owned by the same family through its duration, the name Pappou's comes from the Greek word for "grandfather," according to CBS News. Alfred Giomboni opened the restaurant in 1979 before his son and daughter took over the business.

Levasseur told CBS News that the business has struggled since the pandemic.

"We never made it back from COVID," Levasseur said.

Pappou's Pizza Pub operated at 415 Baltimore Pike, Morton.
