Dunkin' Surprises Haverford High School Teacher With Tickets To Eagles Home Opener

HAVERTOWN, PA — An award-winning Haverford High School teacher began work with a surprise: four tickets to the Philadelphia Eagles' season opener.

Leon Smith, a history teacher, received the honor Thursday from Dunkin', which treated him and his colleagues to complimentary coffee and breakfast.

Last spring, Smith was named 2026 National Teacher of the Year by the Council of Chief State School Officers. According to the organization, Smith emphasizes critical thinking, civic engagement and the inclusion of multiple perspectives in history.

He also worked with the community, families and students to help bring the first AP African American studies course to Haverford.

Smith has spent 25 years teaching at Haverford High School. Now, he and his family can enjoy the Eagles' home opener Sunday against the Washington Commanders.
