Today's riddle: How do billboards talk? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Supporting One Another in Light of Haverford Events (brynmawr.edu) — Bryn Mawr College's president is publicly supporting the Haverford College community after the recent arrest of Professor Guangtian Ha, condemned for alleged antisemitic online harassment. Her message, which includes Haverford President Wendy Raymond's earlier letter, emphasizes that such behavior has no place in Haverford, outlines counseling and reporting resources, and urges anyone affected in the local college communities to seek help.
2. Haverford professor arrested over anti-Semitic threats, prosecutors ask judge to keep him detained (campusreform.org) — A Haverford College religion professor has been arrested on a federal cyberstalking charge, accused of sending dozens of antisemitic, threatening messages to a Jewish colleague and targeting Jewish residents in nearby Lower Merion. He's been placed on administrative leave and barred from campus, while prosecutors seek to keep him detained ahead of trial, a development with serious safety and community implications for Haverford-area residents.
3. Haverford cancels Oct. 7 pro-Palestine event over safety concerns (campusreform.org) — Haverford College canceled a planned Oct. 7 pro-Palestine art event after student organizers refused to move it from the anniversary of the Hamas attacks, citing safety and community concerns. Local students, especially in Haverford, are reacting strongly, with organizers and allied groups accusing the administration of silencing pro-Palestinian voices and tying the decision to the college's recent anti-Semitism lawsuit settlement and new policies.
4. H.S. Football: Fingo goes for it and scores Marple's long-awaited first win (delcotimes.com) — Haverford High's football team lost a heartbreaker at home as Marple Newtown converted a late two-point reverse to steal a 29–28 win. Despite a huge night from Haverford's Henry Yez and multiple long, clock-chewing drives, penalties and a late defensive stand by Marple flipped the result, leaving local fans with a tough one-point defeat.
