SHARON HILL, PA — Animal cruelty and related charges were held against a Delaware County man accused of leaving kittens to die in a box amid the summer heat.

Harold Thomas, 59, was charged with five felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals causing serious bodily injury or death and five misdemeanor counts of neglect back in late August. Magisterial District Judge Tammi L. Forbes held the charges filed against Thomas, of Collingdale, Wednesday.

The charges came after Sharon Hill Police in mid-August shared photos of a man crossing the tracks from Collingdale Borough to the Spayed Club Veterinary Clinic at 800 Chester Pike in Sharon Hill, where he left a box with two kittens inside it. That occurred on Aug. 12 and a clinic employee found the cats dead.
