Broomall Catholic School Earns National Blue Ribbon

National Blue Ribbon School​ award honors schools where students achieve at high levels or where the achievement gap is narrowing.

BROOMALL, PA — A Broomall Catholic school earned national recognition from the U.S. Department of Education Thursday.

Saint Pius X School in Broomall was named National Blue Ribbon Schools.

Established in 1982, the National Blue Ribbon School award honors public and private elementary, middle and high schools throughout the country where students achieve at high levels or where the achievement gap is narrowing.

Saint Pius X School was just one of 362 schools nationwide and 18 in PA to earn the distinction.

According to the Department of Education, being named a Blue Ribbon school "affirms the hard work of educators, families and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content."

"We recognize and honor your important work in preparing students for successful careers and meaningful lives," U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos in a video message to the honorees. "As a National Blue Ribbon School, your school demonstrates what is possible when committed educators hold all students and staff to high standards and create vibrant, innovative cultures of teaching and learning."

A ceremony honoring the schools will be held in Washington D.C. in November.
