Burglary, Assault, Counterfeiting, Fraud: Haverford Crime Blotter

Police said counterfeit $100 bills were used at Shogun and The Gift Box for small purchases on Sept. 26, giving the suspects cash in change.

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Haverford Township released a few weeks' worth of crime blotter details recently.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Sept. 21 and Oct. 3.

The blotter also includes arrests made and citations issued.

  • Theft at Haverford College, 300 block of Lancaster Avenue, on Sept. 21 at 10:37 p.m. – Victim reported that he left his laptop unattended in Tritton Hall. When he returned, it was missing.
  • Theft at the 100 block of E. Marthart Avenue on Sept. 21 at 12:11 p.m. – Victim reported that a person known to her made $240 unauthorized withdraws from her checking account.
  • Fraud at TD Bank, 100 block of W. Eagle Road, on Sept. 21 at 10:54 a.m. – An unknown male attempted to fraudulently withdraw $9,400 from an account.
  • Retail Theft at Wine and Spirits, 1300 block of West Chester Pike, on Sept. 22 at 8:34 p.m. – Three males stole $228.50 worth of liquor.
  • Attempted Theft at M & T Bank, 1300 block of West Chester Pike, on Sept. 22 at 3:53 p.m. – An unknown make attempted to fraudulently withdraw money from an account.
  • Identity Theft at the 100 block of Columbus Road on Sept. 22 at 3:01 p.m. – Victim reported that someone attempted to open a credit card account using her identity.
  • Disorderly Conduct at The Haverford Middle School, 1700 block of Darby Road, on Sept. 22 at 1:11 p.m. – Two juveniles were cited for disorderly conduct for climbing on the roof.
  • Retail Theft at Giant, 100 block of W. Township Line Road, on Sept. 23 at 10:50 a.m. – On Sept. 19 Loss Prevention became aware that an unknown male and female took fraudulent action to commit retail thefts as well as monetary thefts.
  • Retail Theft at Giant, 100 block of W. Township Line Road, on Sept. 23 at 10:50 a.m. – On Sept. 5 an unknown woman selected various items, concealed them in a reusable bag and fled the store.
  • Retail Theft at Giant, 100 block of W. Township Line Road, on Sept. 23 at 10:50 a.m. – On Sept. 19 an unknown male stole $196.53 worth of laundry detergent and sushi.
  • Criminal Mischief at the 2700 block of Oakford Road on Sept. 23 at 4:28 p.m. – 57-year-old female, unit block of Patton Drive Ardmore was cited for criminal mischief.
  • Theft at the 500 block of Fairmont Road on Sept. 24 at 12:37 p.m. – Registration plate was stolen from a vehicle.
  • Attempted Retail Theft at Lowe’s, 100 block of W. Township Line Road, on Sept. 24 at 2:36 p.m. – The store manager reported that an unknown male attempted to wheel two industrial size DeWalt heaters out of the store. The suspect surrendered the heaters when he was confronted.
  • Retail Theft at Acme, 1300 block of West Chester Pike, on Sept. 25 at 1:59 p.m. – The assistant manager reported that an unknown male stole two cases of Red Bull.
  • Identity Theft at the 1200 block of Garfield Avenue on Sept. 25 at 5:37 p.m. – Victim reported that someone used her identity to lease an apartment.
  • Retail Theft at Kohl’s, 200 block of West Chester Pike, on Sept. 26 at 9:38 a.m. – An unknown male stole $400 worth of sneakers and fled the store.
  • Counterfeiting at The Gift Box, 1300 block of West Chester Pike, on Sept. 26 at 6:44 p.m. – Three unknown males passed a counterfeit $100 bill to make a purchase. They received $75.12 in change.
  • Counterfeiting at Shogun, 1300 block of West Chester Pike, on Sept. 26 at 7:12 p.m. – Three unknown males passed a counterfeit $100 bill to purchase fried rice and received $86.22 in change.
  • Identity Theft at the 500 block of Upland Road on Sept. 26 at 3:16 p.m. – Victim reported that her American Airlines account was compromised and someone utilized 36,000 of her airline miles totaling $1,062.
  • Bicycle Theft at Havertown Bicycle Shop, 2000 block of Darby Road, on Sept. 27 at 2:35 p.m.
  • Fraud at the 100 block of Greenbriar Lane on Sept. 28 at 11:16 a.m. – Victim reported that an unauthorized purchase was made with his credit card.
  • Theft at the unit block of Benedict Avenue on Sept. 29 at 4:58 p.m. – Victim reported that $120 and a credit card was stolen from his wallet. The victim was notified by his bank that someone attempted to make a $32,807 purchase at Cartier.
  • Identity Theft at the 600 block of Ardmore Avenue on Sept. 29 at 1:21 p.m. – Victim reported that someone used his identity to file for unemployment benefits.
  • Disorderly Conduct at McSorley’s Ale House, 2300 block of Haverford Road, on Sept. 29 at 7:35 p.m. – 30-year-old male, 2300 block of Haverford Road was cited for disorderly conduct.
  • Retail Theft at Wine and Spirits, 1300 block of West Chester Pike, on Sept. 30 at 1:22 p.m. – An unknown male stole $138.12 worth of tequila.
  • Forgery at the unit block of Parkridge Drive on Sept. 30 at 11:43 a.m. – A check was altered and cashed after it was mailed.
  • Identity Theft at the 2400 block of Clover Lane on Sept. 30 at 3:48 p.m. – Victim reported that someone used his identity to open a credit card account.
  • Public Drunkenness at Wawa, unit block of E. Eagle Road, on Oct. 1 at 1:05 a.m. – 33-year-old male, 2500 block of Huntington Lane was cited for public drunkenness.
  • Burglary at Smoketown Vapes, 1200 block of West Chester Pike, on Oct. 3 at 2:47 a.m. – The front glass to the business was shattered. An unknown male stole the cash register containing $100 and $1,000 worth of merchandise.
  • Motor Vehicle Theft at McGarrity & Moser Auto Repair, 600 block of West Chester Pike, on Oct. 3 at 7:36 a.m.
  • Criminal Mischief at Veterans Field, unit block of Manoa Road, on Oct. 3 at 8:57 a.m. – The bathroom stall door was kicked off the hinges.

  • 53-year-old male, Homeless. Charges: Retail theft, possession of an instrument of crime and drug paraphernalia. Location: Kohl’s. Date: Sept. 21 at 4:56 p.m.
  • 40-year-old male, 100 block of Woodbine Road, Havertown. Charges: Simple assault and harassment. Location: 100 block of Woodbine Road. Date: Sept. 23 at 12:59 a.m.
  • 26-year-old male, 6600 block of Lansdowne Avenue, Philadelphia. Charges: Retail Theft. Location: CVS, 1100 block of West Chester Pike. Date: Sept. 25 at 11:27 a.m.
  • 33-year-old male, unit block of Baltimore Pike, Clifton Heights. Charges: Retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. Location: Acme, 1300 block of West Chester Pike. Date: Sept. 29 at 12:04 p.m.
  • 25-year-old female, 200 block of Sagamore Road, Havertown. Charges: DUI and possession of marijuana. Location: 700 block of Pennfield Road. Date: Oct. 2 at 3:45 p.m.
