Child Sex Charges Filed Against Delco-Based Sports Referee: Police
A former PIAA referee from Drexel Hill has been accused of sexually assaulting a minor for several years, according to authorities.

UPPER DARBY, PA — A former local sports official from Delaware County has been charged with child sex crimes.
Upper Darby Township Police said William Brown, 57, of Drexel Hill was taken into custody for sexual assault of a juvenile.
Charges filed against Brown include statutory sexual assault, indecent exposure, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors, and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child.

Brown was an official for various sporting leagues in the area, police said.
It's unclear what leagues Brown was involved in.

According to the Pottstown Mercury, authorities alleged Brown sexually abused a victim when he was between 6 and 8 years old. The abuse is alleged to have continued until the victim was 12 years old.
The charges were filed after the 15-year-old victim told his mother about the alleged abuse and ultimately told police in June, Action News reports.

Brown is being held after failing to post 10 percent of $250,000 bail.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 25, court records show.
