Commissioners Approve Police Promotions

The Haverford Township Commissioners approved the promotions of two police officers at Monday night’s meeting.

Sgt. Joseph Hagan, a Haverford Township police officer for the last 18 years, was promoted to lieutenant, said Steve D’Emilio, 1st ward commissioner.

Hagan, who spent four years as a police officer of Chester Township, was promoted to sergeant in 2005 and served as a supervisor in the patrol division and later in the Special Operations Unit, D’Emilio said.

“Sgt. Hagan is presently the team leader of the Special Response team which he has been a member since 1995. Jon is also one of the team leader of the , a member of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Terrorism Task Force and coordinator for the Northern Delaware County DUI Task Force,” D’Emilio stated.

Hagan, a lifelong resident of the township, was at the meeting last night with his wife Adrianna and their two daughters, Katelyln and Samatha.

Patrolman Stephen Zambon, who has been with the Haverford Township Police Department for the last 10 years, was promoted to sergeant.

Before coming to the township’s finest, he spent three years with the SEPTA Police Department, D’Emilio said.

“He is a member of the SRT Team, A DARE Instructor, Honor Guard Member, Field Training Officer and a member of the Delaware County Level B MIRT Team,” D’Emilio said. 

Zambon, who lives in Philadelphia, was at the meeting last night with his wife, Lisa, and his parents.

"It's officers like Lt. Hagan and Sgt. Zambon who are the bricks and mortars of the police department. Gentlemen, you earned your bars and stripes. Gentlemen, congratulations and a job well done,” Police Chief Carmen D. Pettine told them and the audience in a speech.

Their families pinned the new stripes and bars onto them.

Their promotions take effect Tuesday, April 12.
