Coopertown Elementary Gets New Principal

Elizabeth Mastrocola has been with the district since 2003 and is a School District of Haverford Township grad.

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA – Coopertown Elementary School has a new principal in longtime district educator Elizabeth Mastrocola, the School District of Haverford Township announced Tuesday, Aug. 15.

Mastrocola has been with the district since 2003. During that time she has been the sixth grade assistant principal at the middle school and a teacher at Manoa Elementary, the district said.

Over her 17-year career in education, Mastrocola taught in the Philadelphia School District as well.

In her time with the School District of Haverford Township, she taught third and fourth grades at Manoa Elementary School before being promoted to the sixth-grade assistant principal where she oversaw the sixth grade transition for all fifth grade students and families, the district said. At the middle school, she collaborated with teaching teams and counselors to ensure students’ educational and emotional needs were met, according to the district.

As a teacher, she participated in the district development of the Language Arts Curriculum Guide, Elementary Writing Mapping, and Math Core Content Assessments, according to the district. She has also served as a mentor trainer for new teachers in the district.

"Her extensive teaching experience and leadership roles will be instrumental in supporting students as they learn and grow through elementary school and transition to the middle school," the district said.

Mastrocola possesses a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Drexel University, a Master of Education Degree in Elementary Education, and a Principal Certification from Cabrini University.

She is also an alumna of the School District of Haverford Township, a Haverford Township resident, and is a parent to a Haverford School District student.

“I cannot express how happy I am to not only live and raise my daughter in Haverford Township, but to also be able to serve this great community as the Principal of Coopertown," Mastrocola said. "Coopertown has a tradition of excellence and I look forward to joining the community and meeting the students and families.”
