Coronavirus Metrics Still Climbing In Delaware County

All but one of six key metrics that measure the virus's impact in Delaware County have done up over the past seven days. See the data here.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Figures showing the coronavirus's impact in Delaware County still increasing, according to the latest data provided by the state.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, five of the six key coronavirus metrics measured by health officials have gone up over the past week.

Of the six metrics, only the number of percent of people who showed up to hospitals with coronavirus-like illnesses did not see an uptick, remaining at 1.3 percent.

Newly reported confirmed cases went up from 331 to 401 from Aug. 6 to Aug. 13.

The incidence rate per 100,000 people increased to 70.8, up from 58.4 last week.

As for positive testing rates, the county's rate ticked up slightly from 4.2 percent to 4.6 percent.

The average number of coronavirus hospitalizations increased, too, going up to 11.9 after being 4.9 last week.

Of those hospitalized people, an average of 0.7 are on ventilators, which is up from 0.3 the previous week.

Delaware County has seen 46,953 cases of the virus and 1,424 virus-related deaths to date.

As of Friday, 279,809 people have been fully vaccinated and 32,977 have been partially vaccinated, according to the state.
