Delco DA Investigating 2020 Election Impropriety Allegations

A suit alleges Delaware County election officials destroyed records in an attempt to cover up election law violations in the 2020 election.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Delaware County officials said allegations of impropriety regarding the 2020 general election are being investigated by the District Attorney's Office.

In a statement Monday, Delaware County executive director Howard S. Lazarus said the allegations arose over the last week, but did not specify what the allegations were.

Several outlets report a suit has been filed by several Delaware County residents, one of whom is a Republican poll watcher, against numerous people and county election workers.

The suit alleges county election officials destroyed voting records after violating election laws in an attempt to hide their actions, the Tennessee Star reports.

According to the Federalist, videos captured show officials discussing getting rid of various pieces of election equipment such as pads and scanners and planning to have a "campfire" with the equipment.

"These allegations have evoked a response from the District Attorney’s Office stating it
will investigate," Lazarus said. "It is the duty of the District Attorney to pursue all credible complaints, and we will support the DA’s efforts to pursue this matter."

Patch has reached out to the District Attorney's Office for more information on the investigation.

"We are confident that in the end the allegations will be proven to be fabricated and wholly without merit, and that our systems are worthy of your trust," Lazarus said.
