SHARON HILL, PA — A Delaware County police officer has been charged with crimes related to child rape, sexual assault, and more by the Chester County District Attorney's Office.

Tyler Humphreys, 21, of Malvern, is charged with rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, and other related offenses, authorities said Friday.

Humphreys was a police officer in the Sharon Hill Borough Police Department and served as the Academy Park High School resource officer.

The Southeast Delco School District in a letter to the community Friday said none of the allegations are related to his work in the district. The district said Humphreys has been fired from his employment with the borough and will not be returning to the role of school resource officer.

"The SRO position is not a school district position but is part of the district’s partnership with our local police," the district said.

Humphreys was sworn into the department as a full-time officer on Sept. 7, 2023, and before that he was a part-time officer in Folcroft Borough.

The DA's office alleges the crimes occurred between 2014 and 2022, and the victims were 9, 15, and 19 years old.

Pennsylvania State Police began investigating Humphreys in November after getting a report of suspected child abuse filed by a mandated reporter.

Authorities allege that a 9-years-old was forced to perform oral sex on Humphreys, who was a juvenile at the time, on multiple occasions in East Whiteland Township, Chester County.

Another mandated reporter told investigators about additional sexual assaults of a 15-year-old girl by Humphreys, the DA's office said. The report stated gave the girl alcohol, then raped her while she was unconscious, according to authorities.

State troopers said Humphreys got the girl drunk, moved her into a bedroom, took off her clothes, then raped her. The DA's office said the girl was in and out of consciousness during the assault, which took place in Charlestown Township, Chester County, while the Humphreys was an adult.

The third alleged victim, according to the DA's office, was sexually assaulted by Humphreys between Nov. 25 and Dec. 2 East Whiteland Township, Chester County.

This woman, who was 19 years old at the time, told investigators that she woke up to find the Humphreys sleeping next to her, wearing only underwear. She stated she immediately had vaginal pain that she did not experience prior to falling asleep, the DA's office said.

The same woman said past abuse that occurred between 2014 through 2018. In those instances, the DA's office said Humphreys grabbed her breasts and touched her inappropriately.

Humphreys is also accused of pulling her onto his lap and holding her there against her will, exposing himself to the victim and forcing her to touch him inappropriately, and threatening her when she said she was going to tell others about the abuse, the DA's office said.

These incidents began when the allege victim was 11 years old and Humphreys was a juvenile, according to the DA's office.

Anyone who may have information about this case is asked to contact Pennsylvania State Police at 610-486-6280.

Humphreys was freed after posting $275,000 cash bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 19.
