Delco Coronavirus Cases Near 12,000 As Numbers Climb In PA

Almost 12,000 people in Delaware County have or have had the coronavirus, according to the latest data.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Almost 12,000 residents of Delaware County have or have had the coronavirus and nearly 800 people in the county have died from it.

According to the most recent data provided by Chester County, Delco's case count is now at 11,986.

Upper Darby has the highest recorded case count of all municipalities in the county, with 1,837 as of Friday.

Yeadon Borough has the highest percent of population to be infected, with 4.77 percent of its 11,471 population having been infected.

Nursing home and long term care facility residents account for 2,969 — or 24.8 percent — of all cases in Delco. As of Friday, 21 of the county's 62 facilities have active outbreaks.

To date, Delaware County has had 114,795 negative test results and has a recovery rate of 84.48 percent.

As for deaths, 799 have occurred in the county.

Of those deaths, 616 have been nursing home or long term care facility residents. That's 77 percent of all coronavirus deaths in the county.

Middletown has the highest number of deaths in the county with 167.
