Delco Coronavirus Incidence Rate, New Cases, Ventilator Use Rise

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Four of six key coronavirus metrics measured by the state have increased in Delaware County in the past week, according to the latest data.

Data published by the Pennsylvania Department of Health Friday last week shows the county is seeing rises in new cases, ventilator use, and more.

As of Jan. 29, Delaware County saw 1,176 newly reported coronavirus cases. That figure is up from 1,148 the week before.

The county's incidence rate also went up from the previous week, albeit slightly. Last week's incidence rate was 207.2 per 100,000 people, up from 202.6 the preceding week.

Ventilator use by coronavirus patients increased as well, going from a 15.3 daily patient average the week ending Jan. 22 to 20.7 the week ending Jan. 29.

Another metric that went up was the county's positivity rate, which is now at 8.3 percent. The increase is very slight however, with the previous rate being 8.2 percent.

The number of average daily hospitalizations and the number of people showing up to hospitals with coronavirus-like symptoms have decreased in Delaware County.

Hospitalization for the coronavirus went down to 127.1 last week, whereas the week before that figure was 137.4.

And the percentage of people who have coronavirus-like symptoms dropped from 1 percent to 0.7 percent.

As of Monday, Delaware County has seen a total of 35,097 cases and 1,192 deaths. The county has a coronavirus recovery rate of 83.77 percent and has gotten 195,307 negative test results to date.
