Delco Register of Wills Candidate Reacts to Court Ruling on Same Sex Marriages
"Judge Pellegrini made it quite clear that we are a government of laws and that elected officials have no discretion to pick and choose which laws they wish to uphold," a candidate said.

Jennifer Holsten Maddaloni, an attorney and Republican candidate for Delaware County Register of Wills, issued the following statement in response to the recent decision by Commonwealth Court Judge Dan Pellegrini on Montgomery County’s practice of issuing marriage licenses to same sex couples, a practice which conflicts with existing state law.
“Judge Pellegrini made it quite clear that we are a government of laws and that elected officials have no discretion to pick and choose which laws they wish to uphold. The great thing about our nation and our state is that if citizens disagree with an existing law they can push to change that law with the state legislature or through the filing of an action with the courts,” said Maddaloni.
“If I am the first woman elected Register of Wills in Delaware County, I will uphold the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as made by the legislature and interpreted by the Courts.”
