Driver Who Hurt Postal Worker In Delco Hit-And-Run Caught: Police

SHARON HILL, PA — A New Jersey man is in police custody after a Nov. 7 hit-and-run that hurt a Delaware County United States Postal Service worker in Delaware County.

Sharon Hill Police said Hamlet Espinal, 22, of Pennsauken, New Jersey, was taken into custody during a traffic stop Tuesday morning.

He is charged with felony accidents involving personal injury, recklessly endangering another person, and more crimes, police said.

The crash occurred at Elmwood and Clifton avenues in Sharon Hill on Thursday, Nov. 7.

Police were called to the area for a report of a crash with injuries and at the scene found a heavily damaged United States Postal Service truck, as well as a man lying in the road.

The man was identified as a United States Postal Service worker and was taken to a local trauma center. As of Friday, Nov. 8, he was listed in stable condition.

Police learned the striking vehicle fled the scene, but was later found in Glenolden Borough.

Authorities learned the driver was Espinal and issued a warrant for his arrest, police said.

Espinal is being held on 10 percent of $100,000 bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
