DUI Checkpoint Coming To Haverford Twp.
A DUI task force comprised of local police departments is mobilizing once again.
HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — The Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce will conduct a DUI checkpoint Friday, May 29 in Haverford Township.
The task force is designed to prevent impaired driving through sobriety checkpoints and roving patrols. It is comprised of police from Haverford, Marple, Newtown, Radnor and Springfield townships.
No other specifics about this Friday's checkpoint were released.

"The purpose of the Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce is to save lives on the roadways and reduce injuries by aggressively enforcing DUI laws," the Haverford Police Department said in a statement.
The task force has mobilized 125 times since forming in 2009, according to Haverford Police. In that time, the task force has arrested 191 people for driving under the influence and issued 49 citations for underage drinking.

Last time the task force mobilized, they issued eight tickets and 80 warnings for motor vehicle violations. There were no arrests or citations for DUI or underage drinking.
The task force urges drivers of legal drinking age to act responsibly and never drive while impaired.
Additionally, they urge people to carefully read labels on prescriptions or over-the-counter medications and to make arrangements for a designated driver before drinking alcohol.
