DUI Driver Struck State Police Vehicle, Injuring Troopers In Delco: Authorities

A Delaware County man struck the back of a Pennsylvania State Police vehicle Saturday, causing injuries to two troopers in it, police said.

NETHER PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP, PA — A Delawre County man struck a Pennsylvania State Police vehicle, injuring two troopers, while driving under the influence over the weekend, according to authorities.

Kamil Harris, 40, of Brookhaven, was charged with DUI, felony criminal mischief, three counts of recklessly endangering another person, three counts of aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence, driving on a suspended or revoked license, and more, according to court records.

The charges stem from an incident that took place at 3:38 a.m. Saturday on Interstate 476 in Nether Providence Township.

According to state police, troopers made a traffic stop at that time and location.

During the stop, Harris crashed into the back of the troopers' vehicle, police said.

Both troopers were injured but were later released from Riddle Hospital after evaluation and treatment.

Troopers determined Harris was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and took him into custody.

He is being held on 10 percent of $250,000 bail and is scheduled for a Feb. 27 preliminary hearing, court documents show.
