Forgery, Fraud, Identity Theft, More: Haverford Crime Blotter

Police said a victim told them a check they had written was altered and attempted to be cashed. See details on this and more incidents here.

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Haverford Township issued their weekly crime blotter Wednesday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Aug. 24 and Aug. 29.

The blotter also includes arrests made and citations issued.

  • Forgery at West Hillcrest Avenue and Woodleigh Road on Aug. 24 at 4:16 pm. – Victim reported that a check was altered and someone attempted to cash it.
  • Theft at the 500 block of Harriet Lane on Aug. 25 at 2:44 p.m. – Victim discovered $539.75 worth of unauthorized purchases made with his credit card.
  • Fraud at the 600 block of Grand Avenue on Aug. 25 at 7:30 p.m. – The victim reported that she received a letter stating that her lease was going to expire. She called the number provided and gave the person her name, social security number and zip code before recognizing the scam.
  • Identity Theft at the unit block of East Marthart Avenue on Aug. 25 at 3:57 p.m. – Victim reported that someone used her identity to open an AT&T account and purchased an i-phone and iPad.
  • Retail Theft at Acme, 600 block of West Lancaster Avenue, on Aug. 26 at 4:45 p.m. – An unknown male stole approximately $250 worth of groceries.
  • Theft at McSorley’s Ale House, 2300 block of Haverford Road, on Aug. 27 at 4:13 p.m. – A backpack was stolen from a table when it was left unattended. The backpack was recovered in the parking lot. A pack of cigarettes and $45 was missing.
  • Fraud at the 100 block of Woodbine Road on Aug. 27 at 1:11 p.m. – Victim received a notification to contact Microsoft Windows support staff due to her device having a malware issue. She was prompted to provide her and her husband’s debit card information, driver’s license and social security numbers. The victim contacted her bank when she became aware of the scam.
  • Public Drunkenness at Ardmore Avenue and Darby Road on Aug. 27 at 4:01 a.m. – 37-year-old male, unit block of Sproul Road, Broomall was cited for public drunkenness. Bicycle Theft at the 100 block of Juniper Road on Aug. 29 at 9:13 a.m.
  • Fraud at the 500 block of Mill Road on Aug. 29 at 2:18 p.m. – A check was altered and cashed.
  • Fraud at the 200 block of Lee Circle on Aug. 29 at 1207 hours – Victim reported that someone made a $9,401.85 purchase using his credit card without his permission or knowledge.
  • Vandalism at Veterans Field, unit block of West Manoa Road, on Aug. 29 at 12:01 p.m. – Melted plastic bottles were discovered in the baseball dugout. They appeared to have melted by fire.
  • Public Drunkenness at the 500 block of Mill Road on Aug. 29 at 8 p.m. – 22- year-old male, 500 block of Argyle Road, Wynnewood was cited for public drunkenness.

ARRESTS

  • 19-year-old female, 7100 block of Copley Avenue, Upper Darby. Charges: Retail theft. Location: Kohl’s, 200 block of West Chester Pike. Date: Aug. 24 at 8:37 p.m.
  • 44-year-old male, unit block of Winfield Avenue, Upper Darby. Charges: False identification to law enforcement. LOC: 1600 block of Darby Road. Date: Aug. 24 at 7:26 p.m.
  • 25-year-old male, unit block of Inbrook Road, Levittown. Charges: Public drunkenness, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Location: 1300 block of West Chester Pike. Date: Aug. 27 at 7:38 p.m.
