Fraud, Invasion Of Privacy, Theft, DUI, More: Haverford Crime Blotter

Haverford Police said a woman had $2,000 taken from her checking account and had $7,000 in Bitcoin stolen after her computer was hacked.

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Haverford Township issued their latest crime blotter Thursday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between March 13 and March 18.

The blotter also features arrests made and citations issued.

  • Fraud at the 1600 block of Ashton Road on March 13 at 12:49 p.m. – Victim reported that someone made multiple unauthorized purchases on his CVS account.
  • Fraud at the Quadrangle, 3300 block of Darby Road, on March 13 at 12:05 p.m. – Victim reported that a check was removed from the drop box at the front desk. The check was altered and attempted to be cashed.
  • Fraud at the 300 block of Greenview Lane on March 13 at 1:14 p.m. – Victim reported that someone gained access to his computer and wired $200,000 from his home equity into his checking account.
  • Theft at the 1300 block of Maryland Avenue on March 13 at 4:30 p.m. – Registration plate was stolen from a vehicle.
  • Retail Theft at Kohl’s, 200 block of West Chester Pike, on March 13 at 7:47 a.m. – Loss prevention officer reported that an unknown female stole $1,473 worth of merchandise.
  • Fraud at the 1100 block of Allston Road on March 14 at 2:16 p.m. – Victim reported he made a deposit to purchase a puppy from someone on Facebook. The victim paid $425 and then later that day the seller requested another $200 for veterinary fees. At this point the victim realized it was a scam.
  • Bicycle Theft at Haverford College, 300 block of W. Lancaster Avenue, on March 14 at 12:20 p.m.
  • Retail Theft at Sunoco, 400 block of E. Township Line Road, on March 14 at 6:48 a.m. – An unknown female stole Red Bull, snacks, drinks and candy.
  • Identity Theft at the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue on March 15 at 1:17 p.m. – Victim reported that someone used her identity to file taxes.
  • Criminal Mischief at the 500 block of Railroad Avenue on March 17 at 5:12 p.m. – An unknown actor pulled large stones out of the victim’s retaining wall.
  • Theft at Westage Rehabilitation, 2000 block of Old West Chester Pike, on March 17 at 10:54 p.m. – Checkbook was stolen from the victim's room.
  • Bicycle Theft at Haverford College, 300 block of W. Lancaster Avenue, on March 17 at 5:17 p.m.
  • Fraud at the 100 block of W. Eagle Road on March 18 at 8:22 a.m. – Victim received a call from a person claiming to be from Door Dash. They advised him to change his password. He discovered that his banking information had been changed after he changed his password.
  • Fraud at the 200 block of Brentwood Road on March 18 at 3:50 p.m. – Victim discovered that her computer was hacked after she had it serviced. $2,000 was taken from her checking account and $7,000 in Bitcoin was also removed.
  • Theft at Haverford Middle School, 1700 block of Darby Road, on March 18 at 6:57 p.m. – Victim reported that his electric scooter was stolen.
  • Fraud at the 400 block of Campbell Avenue on March 18 at 6:02 p.m. – Victim reported that three unauthorized purchases were made with her credit cards.
  • Retail Theft at Giant, 100 block of W. Township Line Road, on March 18 at 2 p.m. – Loss Prevention Officer reported that an unknown female stole $134.53 worth of merchandise.

  • 51-year-old male, 1300 block of Annabella Avenue, Havertown. Charges: Invasion of privacy. Location: 1300 block of Annabella Avenue. Date: March 15 at 10:48 a.m., incident occurred on Dec. 19.
  • 32-year-old male, 1400 block of Thompson Drive, Manning, South Carolina. Charges: DUI, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Location: 1100 block of West Chester Pike. Date: March 15 at 11:35 p.m.
