GIANT Food Stores donates 1,000 turkeys and $5,000 to Philabundance

Launches annual "Feeding Our Neighbors Everyday" campaign

GIANT Food Stores’ “Feeding Our Neighbors Everyday” holiday campaign today supported Philabundance’s annual turkey drive with 1,000 turkeys and $5,000 to the food bank to use in providing additional holiday meals.

“Our annual Feeding Our Neighbors Everyday campaign brings help where our communities need it most - to our local food banks,” said Tom Lenkevich, GIANT president. “Both the turkeys and funds will help Philabundance ensure vulnerable families can enjoy a traditional meal this Thanksgiving.”

According to Philabundance, the donation of 1,000 turkeys can help feed nearly 8,000 people.

“Philabundance is so grateful to GIANT for its support year after year in helping us achieve our mission of driving hunger from our communities today and ending hunger forever,” said Philabundance Executive Director Glenn Bergman. “Thanks to them, many families across the Delaware Valley – from Havertown to Haddonfield and everywhere in between – will have a happier Thanksgiving with a nutritious and delicious GIANT-brand turkey on their table.”

Earlier this year, Philabundance also received a $195,000 grant from Our Family Foundation by GIANT as part of the grocer’s new Fighting Child Hunger initiative to increase access to healthy, nutritious food for children in need of healthier diets. As a result of the grant, the food bank was able to expand its KidsBites’ LunchBox program in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
