Haverford H.S. Seniors Look To The Future

More than 400 seniors are looking forward to the future.

More than 400 Haverford High School seniors sat through speeches of encouragement, reflection and advice at .

In fact, Haverford School District Superintendent Dr. William Keilbaugh jokingly said that there is not much difference between the seniors' graduation and the one that kindergarteners have as the advice is nearly the same: Be kind to others, behave yourself and to eat your vegetables.

But besides the words of wisdom that were mixed in with humor, Keilbaugh gave praise to Haverford School District and the township.

"Schools are a reflection of the best that the community has to offer," he said.

And Gloria Huangpu, a class officer, told fellow seniors that these are the times to fail as it is a great way to learn and to always jump to the right path for them.

"Never stop jumping," she said as the seniors cheered her on.

But once the 474 seniors flung their caps after the last diploma was given out, they made a mass exodus to be with family and friends outside. 

For Kristan Carney, she will be attending St. Joseph's to major in chemical biology research. 

John Flood said that he will be going to Delaware County Community College to study welding, while Rami Ayoub, who will also be going to DCCC, wants to become an architect. 

But for Emily Moylan, she will be attending Temple University as a theatre major.

"I hope to become a professional actress," she said.

But for some, plans for college can wait for just a bit. Alissa Coonfield said that she will be applying to colleges in the fall.
