Haverford Property Taxes Hike Included In 2018 Budget

If the township approve the budget as it stands next week, residents will see a more than 2 percent increase in real estate taxes.

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA – The Haverford Township Commissioners are planning to vote on adopting the township's 2018 budget next week. And if they do so as the budget stands, residents will see and uptick on their tax bills.

The 2018 preliminary budget, which was recently approved at a Nov. 20 meeting, includes a 2.4 percent real estate tax increase.

The budget, standing about $1.7 million more than the 2017 budget at $43.2 million, would bring the millage rate up from 7.993 to 8.185.

That means someone with property assessed at the average amount of $173,644 will be taxed $1,421 in 2018.

Taxes make up a majority of the projected 2018 revenues with $25.3 million.

The biggest expenditure in the budget is the police department which comes to the tune of $17 million.

Trash and sewer rates remain consistent with the 2017 rates, staying level at $197 per year and $4.70 per gallons water used.

The Haverford Township Commissioners will vote on whether or not to adopt the 2018 budget at their Dec. 11 meeting in the Commissioners Meeting Room at the Quatrani Building, 2325 Darby Road, Havertown.
