Haverford School District Approves Hybrid Learning Model For Fall

Students will get two days of in-person and three days of digital instruction a week. A fully digital option is available, however.

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — The School District of Haverford Township board voted Thursday night to open schools with a hybrid model.

In the hybrid learning model, students will get in-person instruction two days a week and virtual instruction three days a week.

Students will be divided into two groups. One will attend in-person classes Monday and Wednesday while the other will go to school Tuesday and Thursday. Fridays are reserved for fully digital learning for all students.

The district will enforce social distancing on school buses and will ensure mask usage, do daily cleaning, and support other health measures to mitigate coronavirus spread.

While the hybrid model was approved, district families can choose to enroll their students in Haverford Online, a fully virtual learning model open to all students.

Haverford Online is a combination of live, interactive and recorded self-paced learning with district teachers leading all instruction, which includes electives and special classes.

In the event of all district buildings being closed, students will learn from home in a totally virtual model. This entails a combination of synchronous and asynchronous instruction utilizing digital and non-digital resources. This model is separate and different from Haverford Online.

The district is set to open schools on Aug. 31.
