Haverford School District Diaper "Dry"ve Begins Thursday

Pregnancy centers, needy families, crisis centers will receive donated diapers

The Township of Haverford School District is opening its 4th Annual Stuff the Bus Diaper "Dry"ve Thursday and district officials are hoping another great turnout from the community.

Starting Thursday Oct. 13 and ending Wednesday Oct. 26, the Haverford School Distrist will be taking diaper donations to help keep area babies fitted with dry diapers.

Haverford High School Counselor Tricia Dyal said all schools in the district will be accepting donations and that the public can drop off their donations at any of the district school offices.

Donations will go to places such as the Delaware County Pregnancy Center, teen crisis centers, and needy area families.

"Bring whatever you can" Dyal said. "Any size, any brand." Dyal went on to say that cash and coupon donations are accepted as well.

In previous years, Dyal said the district collected between 17,000 to 20,000 diapers during the campaign, which is nearly all student led with Dyal and Family and Consumer Science Department Chair Faith Irons overseeing the campaign.

Dyal said the students take away many lessons from running the drive. She said about 50 students are on board for this year's drive.

Dyal said students learn to appreciate the things they may take for granted when working on a charity drive such as the Stuff the Bus campaign.
