Haverford Schools Get Nearly $20K From Giant To Help Feed Kids
The grocery chain's Feeding School Kids raised and donated more than $1.4 million to take on childhood hunger in local public schools.

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — The School District of Haverford Township this week got a nearly $20,000 donation from the Giant Company thanks to the grocery chain's Feeding School Kids initiative.
On Tuesday, Giant representatives met with district representatives to present the district with a check for $19,855.
"The link between good nutrition and a child’s ability to learn is crucial for their success in school; kids have a hard time focusing on academics if they are hungry," Giant Company community impact manager Jessica Groves said. "Thanks to our generous customers, through the Feeding School Kids initiative, we can directly impact our local school food programs and do our part towards helping to eliminate hunger for the youngest members of our community."

The Feeding School Kids campaign ran from Jan. 3 through Feb. 28 where customers at Giant, Martin's, and Giant Heirloom Market stores had the chance to round up their grocery purchase to their nearest dollar or convert their in-store points into a donation for local schools’ food programs.
Funds donated by customers benefitted the local school district in the community in which they were given, and the Giant Company’s matching funds were awarded based on need, as determined by the number of students in the district who receive free or reduced meals.
