Haverford School's inaugural endowed Chair of Rowing and christening of new racing shell

Parents, alumni, past captains, former coaches, and the crew team attended the event at the Conshohocken Rowing Center Oct. 29.

The Haverford School christened its new racing shell in honor of the Class of 2016 and presented the inaugural endowed Chair of Rowing to Head Crew Coach Jonathan Stephanik at the Conshohocken Rowing Center Oct. 29.

Stephanik received the School’s first endowed coaching chair – and was presented with an actual chair, too! “The Fury” was christened and celebrated with a Champagne and apple cider toast.

“I’m honored to be the first endowed chair in coaching,” said Stephanik. “This is going to elevate not only the crew program but also Haverford School athletics to a whole new level. It shows the commitment the School and its supporters have for crew and the program’s growth in years to come. This year’s team is one of the strongest and has a lot of depth; expectations are high for our spring season.”
