Haverford Township School Board Member Garners Advocacy Award
Larry Feinberg received the award from the Pennsylvania School Boards Association.

Haverford Township school board member Larry Feinberg is the first recipient of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association’s Timothy Allwein Advocacy Award, School Board President Denis Gray announced at the board’s meeting on Thursday, Oct. 20.
The award recognizes an advocate for public education statewide, Feinberg told the Haverford-Havertown Patch after the meeting.
“There truly is no bigger advocate in the state than Larry Feinberg,” Gray said during the meeting.

The Pennsylvania School Boards Association—a nonprofit statewide association of public school boards—established the award in 2011, in memory Timothy Allwein, the association’s former assistant executive director for Governmental & Members Relations, according to information on the Pennsylvania School Boards Association website.
Feinberg serves on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association, where he represents 27 school districts in Delaware and Chester counties.

He is also chairman of the Delaware County School Boards Legislative Council and co-chairman of the Keystone State Education Coalition.
“This is a very well-deserved award,” Gray said.
When Gray asked Feinberg to say a few words during the meeting, Feinberg cracked a joke about the award, which he described as an oblong crystal.
“It would be very suitable for hitting legislatures in the head,” Feinberg said.
