House Fire Kills 2 Dogs, Heavily Damages Delco Duplex

No civilians or firefighters reported injuries.

COLLINGDALE, PA — Two dogs died in a fire that damaged two Delaware County homes on Thursday, officials told Patch.

The two-alarm fire broke out around 3:15 p.m. at a duplex on the 1000 block of Broad Street in Collingdale. It significantly damaged the property and displaced five people, Patch previously reported.

No civilians or firefighters reported injuries. However, two dogs died in the fire, said Collingdale Fire Chief Steve Johnson.

First-arriving crews found heavy fire along the porch area of both homes. A second alarm was called, bringing in firefighters from more than a dozen neighboring departments.

One unit's porch and front walls were destroyed, with smoke and fire damage gutting the home.

The Collingdale Fire Marshall's Office is investigating the cause.
