Haverford High School's score on the School Performance Profile dropped from the last assessment, but the 2015-2016 score still puts the school in the top tier, according to data released Thursday by the state.

The high school earned an overall academic score of 95 for the 2015-2016 year. The latest score is down after three years of increasing scores, with a 96.4 in 2012-2013, a 99 in 2013-2014, and a 99.4 in 2014-2015.

The high school saw improvement in the math, English language arts, and science and biology areas, however. The math score increased by over 8 points from the last assessment as well, with the new score being 95.52 and the old being 87.01.

This year’s School Performance Profile scores are the first to reflect student performance on the new more rigorous PSSA, according to officials at the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

Officials say the School Performance Profile is just one indicator of how schools are supporting student learning.

Because the formula used to determine the score is "heavily dependent" on standardized test scores, the department is working with stakeholders to determine how to make it a "better, more holistic measure," Pennsylvania Department of Education Secretary Pedro Rivera said.
