Man Caught With 498 Pieces Of Mail In Haverford Gets Prison Time
An Upper Darby man will spend up to 23 months in prison for his role in stealing nearly 500 pieces of mail in Haverford Township.
HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — An Upper Darby man will do a stint in prison for his role in the theft of nearly 500 pieces of mail in Haverford Township.
Aloysius Kicmett, 20, of Upper Darby, was sentenced to 11-and-a-half months to 23 months in prison after pleading guilty to a theft by unlawful taking charge that was filed in December 2022. He was also ordered to serve probation for 7 years.
Kicmett was charged with theft, receiving stolen property, recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest, and fleeing or attempting to elude police along with two others after being taken into custody on Dec. 15, 2022. Tyrese Isaiah English, 18, and Ahmeer Hakeem Johnson, 22, both of Philadelphia, were also charged and are scheduled for court appearances on these charges next month.

At about 1:33 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, police said a vehicle parked with its headlights on and a person outside the vehicle by a USPS mailbox in the 1600 block of Darby Road.
Police said the person then ran back to the vehicle and got in on the passenger side.

It drove north on Darby Road past the officer.
Police said they say several black men inside the vehicle.
Due to recent mail thefts, police tried to stop the vehicle on the 1700 block Darby Road, but it sped off going north on Darby Road and then through neighborhood streets, police said.
On Mill Road, police said mail was being thrown out of the fleeing vehicle.
The vehicle eventually crashed on the 1600 block of Karakung Drive, police said.
Two of the suspects fled on foot and one suspect was taken into custody at the scene, police said.
Lower Merion Police later apprehended the other suspects at City Avenue and Haverford Road.
Haverford, Radnor, and Lower Merion Police recovered numerous pieces of mail
along the chase route, police said.
The vehicle involved, a black 2017 Dodge Charger, was impounded and
a search warrant was issued.
The search led to the seizure of a handgun and two United States Postal Service mail bins, according to police.
