Mark You Calendar For These Hazardous Household Waste Collection Events In Delaware County
You'll have four chances this year to get rid of batteries, cleaning products, pool chemicals, and more.
Delaware County residents can get rid of hazardous household waste safely over the course of 2017 thanks to the county's hazardous household waste collection events.
Throughout 2017, residents will be able to dispose of harsh materials on several dates and locations:
- Saturday, April 1 – Emergency Services Training Center, 1700 Calcon Hook Road, Sharon Hill 19079
- Saturday, May 6 – Marple Transfer Station, 895 Sussex Boulevard, Broomall 19008
- Sunday, Sept. 17 – Penn State University Brandywine Campus, 25 Yearsley Mill Road, Media 19063 (use the main entrance at the traffic light on Route 352)
- Saturday, Oct. 7 – Emergency Services Training Center, 1700 Calcon Hook Road, Sharon Hill 19079
All events begin at 9 a.m. and end at 3 p.m.

The disposal events are open to Delaware County residents only. Businesses, industry, or institutions are not permitted to use the services.

- oil-based sealants
- paint thinner
- gasoline
- kerosine
- gas/oil mixtures
- heating/motor oil
- lead acid batteries
- rechargeable batteries
- lithium batteries
- button batteries
- nickle-cadmium batteries
- pool cleaners
- rust/paint remover
- antifreeze
- lawn chemicals
- cleaners/solvents
- mercury thermostats and thermometers
- fluorescent tubes
Items/materials not accepted are:
- electronics
- smoke detectors
- latex paint
- asbestos
- explosives
- gas or propane cylinders
- PCBs
- pressurized CFCs
- tires
- medical waste
- alkaline batteries
