Republican councilman Michael Culp is not seeking reelection, while fellow Republicans John McBlain, chairman of the council, and Colleen Morrone, vice chair, have reached their term limits.

Democrats Kevin M. Madden and Brian P. Zidek (the first ever elected to the county council) are looking to add more Ds to the council to bolster the party's policies in the county.

Taylor is a member of the Upper Darby School Board; Schaefer was a Radnor Township Commissioner; and Reuther served as a commissioner in Nether Providence Township.

Morgan is a retired consultant; Raith sits on the Thornbury Township board of supervisors; and Colvin is the former director of a policy research center at Temple University.

Earlier this year, the Democrats battled with the Republicans over an ethics plan.

The GOP called it a stunt while the left said it was a move to get rid of money out of county politics.
