Suspect In Custody After Officer Shot In Delaware County

An officer was shot in Folcroft and is reportedly in stable condition.

A suspect has been taken into custody after a police officer was shot Friday morning in Folcroft, Delaware County, according to NBC10.

The suspect's name has not been released.

The officer, who has been identified in various media reports as Christopher Dorman, is in stable condition after being shot just before 10 a.m., according to multiple outlets, including 6ABC.

Service on SEPTA's Wilmington/Newark line, which was suspended for hours as authorities searched for a gunman, has resumed, SEPTA announced.

The officer was shot multiple times and was rushed to the hospital, where a spokesperson told NBC10 he has been stabilized.

According to sources, the 25-year-old officer was responding to a call about drug activity when he was ambushed while wearing a protective vest. An area resident told NBC10 the suspect was smoking marijuana outside a building on Elmwood Avenue just before the shooting.

Gov. Tom Wolf expressed his concern for the officer over Twitter, saying "please keep his family in your prayers."
