Property Taxes Rising In 2019 Haverford Township Budget

Haverford Township's real estate millage rate is increasing in 2019 after the new budget was adopted at the Dec. 10 meeting.

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA – Haverford Township supervisors recently voted on the proposed 2019 budget, giving it the go-ahead for the next year. And that means a tax hike for homeowners.

The new budget includes a 2.15 percent property tax increase, which means the 2018 rate of 8.185 mills will bump up to 8.361.

Overall, the budget stands at $44.87 million, up about $1.5 million from 2018's budget of $43.3 million.

Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the budget at their Dec. 1o meeting.

Real estate taxes make up the bulk of the budget's revenues, with $25.98 million coming from them.

The police department is the largest expenditure in the 2019 budget. $17.4 million of the new budget is being allocated to the department.
