A new scam says packages are being held in a warehouse and say the only way to release their hold is to provide personal information.

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Haverford Township are warning residents of a new style of scam that involves text messages related to package deliveries.

According to police, scammers are sending text messages that say packages are stuck in warehouses.

The scam texts ask targets to provide their personal information to release the held packages, police said.

"Sounds fishy, right? That's because it is," police said.

Police urge residents not to click on any links from such text messages or provide any personal information.

Those who have packages in transit should double-check their orders to ensure they were placed with reputable stores.
