School Cancellation Due To Power Outage Counts As 'Emergency Day'
The closing of schools two weeks ago will only need to be made up if the total number of emergency day cancellations exceeds four days for the school year.

Whether Haverford School District will need to add an extra day of school to its calendar because it closed schools for a power outage will depend on the number of emergency days the school district uses during the school year, Superintendent William Keilbaugh said in an interview after a school board meeting on Thursday night.
The district closed all schools and district buildings on Sept. 8 due to a power outage that occurred during heavy rain storms.
There were four district buildings without power: , , and the Brookline School Building, which is no longer used as a school but houses a senior center and a daycare program for students, Keilbaugh said.
