PA – April 4, 2013 – Tonight from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. the public is invited to
The Skatium in Havertown to skate for Brendan and Ryan Dixon, two local brothers
who suffer from a rare disorder. What began as a community service project by a
local tween has raised $25,000 for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and
draws more than 400 participants. Flyers goalie Brian Boucher will sign
autographs.
All proceeds from admission, the silent auction, raffle and
bake sale will be donated to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in honor
of the brothers, ages 11 and 8 who suffer from Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EE), a
severe allergic disorder of the esophagus that prevents them from eating almost
every type of food.

Thirteen year-old Michael Dell, now a freshman at Haverford
High School, first organized the event two years ago, using his own money to
rent The Skatium, for his friend Brendan as part of a community service
project. This year, Michael’s brother, Matthew, a sixth grader at Haverford
High School donated his own money to pay for the ice time.
What: Local
tween sponsors and organizes third-annual “Skate for Brendan and Ryan,” a
skating event open to the public at The Skatium in Havertown, to raise money
for a rare and severe disorder that affects two local brothers.
