Tree Planted In Honor Of Killed Havertown Teen Nicolas Elizalde
The Cub Scouts of Pack 332, Scouts of Troop 300, and volunteers from both units performed a tree planting in honor of the late teenager.

HAVERTOWN, PA — A tree was planted Tuesday in Havertown in memory of the late Nicolas Elizalde, who was shot and killed in Roxborough back in September.
The Cub Scouts of Pack 332, Scouts of Troop 300, and volunteers from both units performed a tree planting and conducted a ceremony in honor of the memory of 14-year-old Elizalde Tuesday at Lynnewood Elementary School in Havertown.
Elizalde graduated from the school.

Organizers said the planting was performed in partnership with the Lynnewood Parent Teacher Organization and Lynnewood Teachers, who engaged in the fundraising necessary to purchase the tree, and the Lynnewood and Havertown School District Administrations, who provide the necessary approvals and supervision to plant the tree.
About 20 Scout and Scouting family members, Elizalde's Cubmaster Brian Mattocks, former teachers, and Nicolas Elizalde's mother Meredith Elizalde were in attendance, organizers said.

Readings about responsibility, helpfulness, and nature were performed at the ceremony.
Additionally, thoughts were shared by Meredith Elizalde as well as by those who knew the slain teen, including Mattocks, and some of Nicolas' elementary school teachers.
These speakers attested to the generous and loving spirit of Nicolas and the light that he brought everywhere he went, organizers said.
