Trio Scammed $4,200-Plus Out Of Haverford Grocery Store: Police

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Haverford Township are asking for help finding three men accused of duping a grocery store worker into giving up more than $4,200 recently.

The incident occurred on June 4 at Giant at 116 W. Township Line Road.

Three men came into the store at about 4:21 p.m. and scammed a cashier out of $2,000 in gift cards, $2.100 in cash and $140.57 in groceries before leaving the store.

Police said the suspects tricked the cashier into conducting a cash purchase while convincing him the sale was on a credit card, thus not making any payment for the merchandise, gift cards, or cash back.
