Twilight Run Honoring Haverford SD Admin Who Lost Cancer Battle

Jane Greenspun served as the district's Director of Technology and died in August last year.The Twilight Run/Walk will honor her legacy.

The Haverford Township School District Education Foundation is again hosting the popular Twilight Run and Walk this weekend. However, participants will be running and walking in honor of Jane Greenspun, longtime director of technology in the district, who lost a battle with cancer in August 2016.

The run and walk will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 22 and starts at Haverford High School.

Registration fees are $15 for the 1-mile Elementary Challenge and $25 for the 5K Run or Walk.Prices jump to $20 and $30, respectively, on race day.

If you can't pre register, registration will be available from noon to 2 p.m. at Nolan Painting, 181 W. Hillcrest Ave., and from 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. at Haverford High School in the lobby outside the gym.

Proceeds from this year's event will fund the Jane McConnell Greenspun Memorial Technology Grant.

Anyone who pre registered can also pick up race packets at those times.

Fees cover t-shirts for the first 400 registrants, food and drink after the race, chances for kids under 18 to win Fitbits, and free or reduced-price treats from Havertown businesses during the Party on the Town Saturday evening after the event.

The 1-mile Elementary Challenge will being at 4:45 p.m., the 5K race at 5 p.m., and the walk at 5:15 p.m.

Haverford Township Police said Mill Road and the northbound lanes of Darby Road between West Chester Pike and E. Benedict Avenue will be closed for the event.

Drivers should use extra caution and plan for increased driving times when driving around the closures.
