A man who injected heroin on a SEPTA bus in Delaware County and then passed out was saved by local police, who used Narcan to revive the 25-year-old.

The incident, which happened Thursday, was captured on surveillance video, serving as a shocking reminder of the unfortunate heroin epidemic that is plaguing the region.

Police say they arrested Michael Meeney, a Middletown Township resident, on heroin possession charges following the incident. He was found with four bags of heroin and arrested Tuesday after he had treatment, police told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael J. Chitwood told the Inquirer Meeney’s arrest is part of an effort to crack down on heroin use in the hopes of getting addicts the help they need.
