Borough Manager Discusses Mid-Year Financial Audit

Hellertown Borough Manager Cathy Kichline told Borough Council that a recent audit revealed that income from real estate transfer taxes is down.

An audit of the borough's finances revealed that so far this year, income from real estate transfer taxes is below expectations, Hellertown Borough Manager Cathy Kichline told Borough Council July 18.

"Overall everything looks well," Kichline said, but "one area where we are behind is our real estate transfer taxes."

"There are not too many houses selling," she added.

Kichline said that given the lackluster state of the local real estate market, the fact that income from transfer taxes is down is not surprising.

One positive area of Kichline's report was earned income tax, which she said "is up."
